EDi is providing electrical design consulting services for the renovation of an existing 250,000 square-foot building built in the mid-1960s. The renovation will provide a new Center for Advanced Manufacturing facility for Guilford Technical Community College. The space will be utilized for welding, machining, transportation, automotive, and autobody learning centers. In-depth space assessments and programming studies of department areas and needs were performed to determine speci c needs within this adap ve re-use project.
EDi engineers conducted detailed field investigations of the existing building electrical system components to determine condition may and power requirements for each piece of existing equipment. Design of following systems is included in the scope of work: building lighting, emergency and exit lighting, power, fire alarm, telecommunications, site lighting, blue light system, and low voltage infrastructure.
Amphora Discovery Corporation required a state-of-the-art laboratory facility and renovated a 25,000 square foot building in Durham County near Research Triangle Park. This project was intensive due to the fast track nature of the design. The design was phased in order to expedite the occupancy date for the tenant, with certain areas of the labs and offices being completed while other areas were still in the design phase. EDi facilitated the pre-purchased of several long-lead items due to the short construction schedule of the project, in an effort to expedite the delivery dates. An independent company was retained to trace the under-slab sewer piping to verify invert elevations, condition of pipe, and exact routing locations prior to initiating the plumbing design. EDi provided MEP & FP engineering systems design. Some of the systems incorporated - a generator, UPS system, new electrical service, new compressed air, DI water, and vacuum. The facility included a mission-critical computer room with independent and redundant cooling systems and emergency back-up power.
